Updates/Reports

Regarding the September 28 meeting of the NC3, Matt participated by explaining the role of this coalition as an opportunity for agencies to receive funding for their programs.  He cited the truancy program that is being developed for all the school districts to use as one program that the Coalition is supporting, and explained the process which will involved student, parent, school administration, law enforcement, and the court.  At the same meeting, Gale presented information to the group including how the Coalition uses Prevention Needs Assessment Survey data in planning, what the Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG) is and how agencies partner to make it work.  She also played the video, “The Top Ten Myths about Alcohol and Drugs.”

Jay DeWispelaere shared with the Coalition that PRIDE was going through an internal review analysis at the request of the Fremont Area Community Foundation, as they have requested from all their major grantees.  The report will be shared with the PRIDE Board of Directors and the Coalition.

New Business

The floor was opened for discussion of selecting a different day to hold regular meetings in an effort to include more participation from other sectors.

Motion: Jackie Malsom moved to continue with the same day and time.  Motion carried.

The Drug Free Communities grant is requiring that the 2007-08 Sustainability Plan be submitted by December 20.  Gale solicited volunteers to assist in preparing this.  Motion:  Lori Schultz moved to accept volunteers Kathy Fletcher, Mary Sturtevant, and Jackie Malsom to form the committee to work with Gale on the sustainability plan.  Motion carried.  The committee agreed to meet for one hour prior to regular coalition meetings in November and December.

Gale distributed copies of the “Involvement Analysis” and explained that the information on this form will become one part of the eco-map.  Members were encouraged to take these forms and consider their responses.  The survey will be completed as a group at the next meeting.
